Final Exam Question #1

There will only be two questions for your final. Here is the first question:

PILGRIMAGE JOURNAL

FINAL EXAM SEMESTER 1—7C

PJ #8—GARDENS OF THE WORLD

• Go to your next stop.
• Locate a natural garden/forest/park at your stop that has been set aside for citizens to visit for pleasure.
• Describe the place and make sure you include at least one picture of it.
• How is this place similar/different to a traditional Japanese garden? (If you happen to be IN Japan, then find a place that is special, but is NOT a traditional Japanese garden.)

(1 page minimum excluding the photographs)

Mosque HW

• Finish reading mosque handout.
• Try to complete the "Mosque Treasure Hunt" (first two columns, not the third) tonight.
• We will fill in third box tomorrow.

Ch. 1, Section 3

• Finish handouts.
• Quiz first thing tomorrow.

FINAL EXAM INFO

• The final exam for semester 1 will be open note/open book.
• All questions will be related to the pilgrimage journal. Some questions will require you to think about cultures we have already studied, and some questions will make you look for new information.
• You will receive all questions ahead of time and may prepare the questions as I explain in class.
  
• This means that study time is low, prep time might be about 2 hours max.

1. Due Tuesday: Read handout "An Introduction to Islam". Answer these questions in your spiral:

• a. What new things did you learn? (minimum of 5 new things)
• b. What is interesting to you? (minimum of 3 interesting items)
• c. What questions do you have? (minimum of 3 questions)
• d. What did you learn that you previously thought was not true about Islam?

2. Due Wednesday: Re-read Chapter 1, section 2...be prepared to discuss in class.

3. For Thursday: Study for quiz. Quiz topics include: Arabian geography; Muhammad's life/call; Islamic beliefs; Five pillars of Islam.
